Cruising has evolved into a massive trend lately, charming the socks off even the Gen Z crowd. Thanks to this burgeoning enthusiasm, Aussies of all ages are setting sail in record numbers. With a demand this high, it’s no surprise that Royal Caribbean is making waves with some thrilling announcements.

Enter the grand stage, the Anthem of the Seas—Royal Caribbean’s latest marvel to hit Australian waters, alongside the much-anticipated return of Voyager of the Seas which now calls Brisbane its proud homeport. These moves come as part of the company’s strategy to amp up the excitement for an epic Australian summer cruise season.

Royal Caribbean isn’t just any cruise line; it’s the world’s largest, boasting a fleet of 27 magnificent ships. As Gavin Smith, the Managing Director for Royal Caribbean AUNZ, puts it, “With many of our Australian guests being repeat cruisers familiar with the Quantum and Ovation, we’re thrilled to offer new ships like Anthem with fresh itineraries. Of course, we’re keeping all the beloved classics that our guests rave about.”

Anthem is set to rock the boat quite literally with a Queen-inspired musical, “We Will Rock You,” and a throwback to the good old days at Johnny Rockets diner. Meanwhile, Voyager isn’t shy about showing off its own new attractions, boasting three-story waterslides, an ice-skating rink, and a mini-golf course that are sure to delight every member of the family.

After a hiatus of five years, the return of Voyager has already caused quite the stir. The buzz is particularly noticeable among young families and the Gen Z and millennial cruisers, who are increasingly making cruising their vacation of choice. “It’s not just a holiday; it’s a multi-generational adventure,” notes Smith. “Grandparents are often the ones spoiling the family with suite bookings, introducing the younger members to the joys of cruising.”

The surge in cruising popularity is reshaping the holiday landscape in Australia, providing incredible value and convenience, especially amid the rising cost of living. Smith is optimistic about the future: “We’re gearing up for a season of significant growth, driven by the enthusiasm of younger cruisers eager for a ‘something for everyone’ holiday experience.”

Royal Caribbean is also capturing the hearts of first-time cruisers, who find the all-inclusive nature of cruising a major draw. “Where else can you visit multiple countries, unpack just once, and avoid the hassle and expense of peak season hotel bookings?” Smith asks rhetorically.

Interestingly, it’s the shorter cruise options that are currently all the rage. Families might opt for a 7-night South Pacific adventure, while parents might sneak away for an adults-only wellness weekend. On the Anthem, there are more weekend getaway options than ever before, allowing groups of friends to escape to adults-only spaces and indulge in spa treatments.

This November, Sydney will welcome the Anthem of the Seas, offering 24 holiday options ranging from three to 18 nights, exploring the sunny coasts of Australia, New Zealand, and the islands of the South Pacific. Starting December, Voyager will set sail from Brisbane, offering 20 exciting holiday choices, including a new stop in Luganville, Vanuatu. With sailings planned from November 2025 through April 2026, there’s a perfect cruise waiting for every Aussie.

Royal Caribbean’s Australian expansion is set to redefine what it means to go on a holiday, blending adventure with relaxation and luxury with fun. Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or a curious newcomer, these ships are ready to take you on a journey you’ll never forget. So, pack your bags and get ready to cruise like never before — it’s going to be a wild ride down under!
