Coco Cay, Now Perfect Day at Coco Cay
Royal Caribbean really upped the game when they transformed CocoCay, into Perfect Day at CocoCay. Other cruise lines like Carnival, MSC, and Norwegian also have their private islands with nice beaches and bars, but Royal Caribbean took it to a whole new level. They added a massive pool, the largest in the Caribbean, and introduced extra experiences like an upscale beach club and a huge waterpark. As well as the tallest waterslide in North America.
New Ships
The Oasis and Quantum-class ships of Royal Caribbean have also set new standards for cruise ships. The Oasis class offers unique areas like Central Park and Boardwalk, which were never seen before on cruise ships. The Quantum-class ships, although slightly smaller, also maximize space and are great for traveling to cold-weather destinations. Royal Caribbean’s upcoming Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas will further enhance their advantage over competitors like Carnival, MSC, and Norwegian.
Royal Caribbean Expansion
During a recent earnings call, Royal Caribbean discussed their plans for expanding CocoCay, the new Nassau Beach Club and the possible homeport for Utopia of the Seas. CocoCay has been a tremendous success for the company, accommodating around 11,000 guests per day and generating strong pricing premiums. With the introduction of Icon of the Seas, they are expecting even more visitors, so they are building the adults-only Hideaway Beach section to handle the increased capacity.
In addition to CocoCay, Royal Caribbean is also developing another private destination called the Royal Beach Club on Nassau’s Paradise Island. This will provide another option for their largest ships and create a fantastic two-day experience when combined with Perfect Day.
Hideaway Beach at CocoCay will be an exclusive, additional fee experience that offers all-inclusive amenities for half a day. Pricing details have not been revealed yet, but it will likely be based on demand, similar to the CocoCay Beach Club and waterpark.
As for Utopia of the Seas, the next Oasis-class ship, Royal Caribbean hasn’t released much information. However, it’s clear that it will be visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay and there is high demand for this experience. While it’s possible for the ship to visit CocoCay from New Jersey or Galveston, Florida is the most likely homeport, considering the strong demand and previous deployments of similar ships in the area.
