Royal Caribbean Announces Temporary Pause on Visits to Labadee, Haiti Amid Safety Concerns

In response to the dynamic situation in Haiti, Royal Caribbean International has made the precautionary decision to temporarily suspend all visits to Labadee, their exclusive island retreat. This suspension affects the itinerary of the entire fleet, underscoring the company’s commitment to guest and crew safety.

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of our guests and crew. Given the current circumstances in Haiti, we believe it prudent to temporarily pause our visits to Labadee. We will continue to closely monitor the situation with our dedicated Global Security & Intelligence Team,” stated Royal Caribbean in a recent announcement.

Among the ships affected by this change is the majestic Symphony of the Seas, known for its lavish seven-night Western Caribbean cruise. Originally scheduled to grace Labadee on March 19, guests aboard this Oasis-Class marvel will instead enjoy an additional day at sea, coupled with extended time in the vibrant locale of Falmouth, Jamaica.

Similarly, the Mariner of the Seas, set to embark from Port Canaveral for a five-night Caribbean adventure on March 18, will now direct its course towards the sunny shores of Nassau, Bahamas, bypassing its planned stop in Haiti.

The itinerary adjustment also impacts the Grandeur of the Seas, which will replace its Labadee visit with an exciting day at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island paradise in the Bahamas, on March 23.

Royal Caribbean assures all guests with pre-paid shore excursions in Labadee that refunds will be processed automatically to their original payment method. This gesture of goodwill reflects the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction and flexibility in navigating unforeseen changes.

Further impacting the March cruise schedules are several other notable vessels, including the Oasis of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas (mentioned twice, indicating its significance), Independence of the Seas, Odyssey of the Seas, and the Explorer of the Seas, all of which were poised to visit Labadee.

Royal Caribbean’s decision to suspend visits to Labadee is a testament to their proactive approach to ensuring a safe and enjoyable cruise experience for all. As the situation in Haiti evolves, the cruise line remains vigilant, ready to adapt and communicate any further changes to its valued guests.
