Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas Undergoes $100 Million Amplification: Here’s What’s Coming
Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas has finally entered dry dock for a long-awaited $100 million renovation, officially joining the cruise line’s “Amplified” fleet. After years of delay, the massive overhaul is set to transform the ship with exciting new features, enhanced dining options, and upgraded accommodations.
The renovation is taking place in Cadiz, Spain, where Allure of the Seas arrived recently. Once completed in April 2025, the newly amplified ship will be ready to welcome passengers back for unforgettable journeys in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.
What Is Royal Caribbean’s Amplification Program?
Royal Caribbean launched its Amplification Program in 2018, a multi-billion-dollar initiative to modernize and enhance some of its most iconic ships. The goal? To bring the latest attractions, dining venues, and entertainment experiences to older ships, making them feel brand new.
The first vessel to receive the Amplified treatment was Oasis of the Seas in 2019. Now, it’s Allure of the Seas’ turn to get a stunning transformation that includes thrilling slides, exciting new restaurants, and luxurious suite upgrades.
New Thrills: The Ultimate Abyss & The Perfect Storm Waterpark
One of the most exciting additions to Allure of the Seas is The Ultimate Abyss, a 10-story dry slide that sends adrenaline-seekers on a spiraling journey from the top deck to the Boardwalk below. This fan-favorite attraction has been a huge hit on other Oasis-class ships, and now Allure guests can experience the thrill for themselves.
In addition to The Ultimate Abyss, Royal Caribbean is adding The Perfect Storm, a trio of high-speed waterslides that will take the onboard waterpark to a whole new level. Passengers looking for a wet and wild adventure will love these twisting slides, perfect for thrill-seekers of all ages.
More Dining & Nightlife: 35+ Bars and Restaurants
Food lovers, get ready—Allure of the Seas is about to offer more dining options than ever before. The ship will feature over 35 bars, restaurants, and lounges, including new additions that have proven popular on other Royal Caribbean vessels.
One of the biggest highlights is The Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar, which serves up Southern comfort food with a modern twist. Expect favorites like fried chicken, biscuits, shrimp and grits, and handcrafted cocktails in a cozy, rustic atmosphere.
Another exciting addition is The Pesky Parrot, a vibrant Caribbean-themed bar that first debuted on Utopia of the Seas. Guests can sip on tropical cocktails and enjoy a lively island-inspired atmosphere.
For sports fans, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade is making its way to Allure, offering big-screen TVs, classic bar bites, and arcade games for all ages. Whether you’re catching a game or challenging friends to a round of air hockey, this venue is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Brand-New Entertainment & Activities
Allure of the Seas will also feature a new Royal Escape Room, an interactive experience that challenges guests to solve puzzles and unravel mysteries before time runs out. Themed “Apollo 18: Lunar Landing,” the escape room will immerse players in a space mission where they must land Apollo 18 on the moon by cracking complex codes and uncovering hidden clues.
Other exciting onboard enhancements include:
- Lime & Coconut Bar – A lively, tropical-inspired poolside bar serving refreshing cocktails.
- Expanded Resort-Style Pool Deck – Featuring more shaded areas, upgraded seating, and a luxurious new design.
- Brand-New Staterooms – Including two Ultimate Panoramic Suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and over 900 square feet of living space.
Where Will Allure of the Seas Sail After Renovation?
After completing its renovation, Allure of the Seas will officially reenter service on April 11, 2025, with a four-night roundtrip cruise from Barcelona. The ship will spend the summer season sailing in the Mediterranean, offering guests breathtaking views of Europe’s most iconic coastal destinations.
In November 2025, Allure will reposition to Port Everglades, Florida, where it will begin sailing six- to eight-night Caribbean itineraries.
- Eight-night cruises will visit the Eastern Caribbean, including a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
- Six-night cruises will explore the Western Caribbean and Nassau, with passengers getting the option to visit Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
